BOOKCASES
Bookcases come in all kinds of heights, widths, styles and shapes. They can be just a tower of shelving but they can also have cubby holes, drawers, doors, slots and cubby holes. Some bookcases also come with inbuilt book ends or lighting. The simplest are made from metal or wood but they can also be made from glass, wire racks, wicker and other materials. There are bookcases made in every type of material including wood, metal and plastic. Some book cases are square units that look like store display cases.

Exploring
the Fascinating World of Bookcases
People have always been looking for ways to distinguish themselves as
individuals from the collective pack. After thousands upon thousands of years
of evolution, our race has decided that one of the best ways to display
individuality and superiority over others is by owning luxurious items. These
items are usually made more for an aesthetic purpose rather than a functional
one. They serve as decorations and symbols of wealth. For a long time now book
cases have been considered as being some of the classiest and most
sophisticated pieces of furniture available, and not without reason.
First off, there are the wood bookcases with which most people are probably
familiar with already. While the lower end models are often made out of cheaper
materials such as softwood, the higher end ones are usually built out of
hardwoods such as cherry, oak, mahogany, teak, cedar, redwood, red cedar and
walnut. While these hardwoods are extremely resilient and can last decades upon
decades if taken care of properly, they also have an aesthetic function. For
hundreds of years now furniture makers have been using these woods because they
convey a certain feeling of class and sophistication.
The second type of bookcases I would like to bring to your attention are the
glass door bookcases. They are pretty much the same as wood bookcases, with
lower end models being made from cheap softwoods while higher end ones are made
from hardwoods. However, these glass door book cases have, as you can probably
guess, a glass door which is perfect for putting your book collection on
display while protecting it at the same time. In these models the wood and the
glass are combined to create a very unique ambiance which spells rich and chic.
For those out there who are looking to purchase book cases in order to simply
keep their books rather than displaying them or decorating their environment,
then you more than likely have a lot of books in need of some type of storage
solution. Well, chances are that ladder book cases are going to be the perfect
fit for you. Being taller than most book cases and hence requiring a ladder,
these ladder book cases offer a great amount of space allowing you to store a
whole collection of literature. In most cases, the materials used are hardwoods
seeing as how the main purpose of ladder book cases is to keep the books as
safe as possible.
Finally, if you are inclined towards something with a bit more of a modern
imprint on it, then perhaps you should look into open bookcases. These
basically consist of large stylish shelves, without any doors or protection
glass. There are some great benefits to open bookcases, such as the fact that
they are perfect if you want to place your books on display, not to mention
that they are generally inexpensive and easy to put together.
All in all, there are many bookcases or book storages out there for all tastes
and styles, so do take your time and look around at all the options available.
Chances are, you aren't even close to having seen them all yet.
